Born in a scenic place Sakleshpur, a beauti coffee-growing town 220 kms from Bangalore in Karnataka, Vikas had seen his father growing Coffee & Pepper on their farms. Vikas moved to Bangalore for higher education and just after finishing his graduation, he joined a company that was trading in spices. During his 3 years tenure, he helped them grow their international business and then went on to pursue his MBA in SCMHRD, Pune.
Vikas also co-founded Gourmet retail store Satvikk Speciality Foods pvt ltd for 4.5 years. By this time, Vikas had gained solid experience in the food industry and was all set to launch his India’s Premium snack brand after a brief stint of distribution in between.
In 2016, he started Happilo – A premium dry fruit & Snack brand. Vikas’s wife and also his batchmate from the MBA days, not only supported him by running the household along with her own office commitments as a Hr Manger in a public limited company, but also gave him a loan of 20 Lacs as initial capital to start Happilo
Vikas also got a loan of 75 lacs from the CGTMSE scheme for startup’s / MSME. He kept on working on products, packaging, marketing, sales, and distribution for some time. But something massive happened when they got into a deal with BigBasket. It was a one-month exclusive launch on BigBasket and that’s how he acquired their first set of customers and there was no looking back from that time.
He also launched Happilo in one of the biggest stores in Malad, Mumbai. Got their products on Amazon, and Flipkart..now the brand is available across all Modern Trades and even in quick commerce places like Swiggy, Blinkit, and Zepto.
With Vikas’s consistent efforts in distribution, marketing, and feeling the pulse of Indian customers, Happilo soon became a leading Healthy snack brand not only in India but globally.
Today, Happilo (Happi+Love) is present in 10K + stores in India & all leading e-commerce platforms. it’s already on its way to becoming a global success!
